Human trafficking is modern-day slavery, with more people captured today than ever before in human history. The stats are harrowing, making it painfully clear — our bark must be loud. Awareness and education can be the difference makers against abuse, enslavement, and repeat capture.

To bring healing, increased safety, and empowerment, Valor Canines provides working dogs to survivors of human trafficking. We foster lifelong bonds between people and paws, provide ongoing education and training, and maintain life-affirming community.

Our Canine Companions play a vital and unique role in supporting survivors of human trafficking on their restoration journeys. These highly-trained canines offer security, companionship, and emotional support that is transformative for survivors who have experienced severe trauma.

What Drives Us

We care deeply about healing trauma. As a Veteran-led non-profit, we profoundly understand that renewal and restoration are possible even in the most harrowing circumstances. Our collaborative approach to survivor support is always unique. We take the time to understand the healing journey and meet individuals with compassion and care in whatever ways are most impactful. Through canine match and placement, direct support, and community building, we aspire to empower survivors to reclaim their lives and find strength in a safer, more hopeful future.

Our Commitment

We approach each healing relationship with dignity and discretion. We empower our Veteran trainers to use their skills in service of human trafficking survivors, discovering a meaningful and fulfilling way to continue their service. We create a supportive community where survivors find strength in the shared experiences of Veterans. We train and place service dogs for long-term support of survivors, and provide personal safety training to end repeat capture.

What are micronutrients?

Why does my dog need prebiotics, and why prebiotics instead of probiotics?

What are the benefits of L-glutamic acid?

Glutamine is an amino acid derived from glutamic acid. Glutamine is the preferred energy substrate for the enterocyte and as such it plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the gut barrier. It is also the preferred fuel source for other rapidly dividing cells such as lymphocytes and fibroblasts especially during times of critical illness.

What is fructooligosaccharides (FOC)?

FOS are prebiotics and naturally-occurring substances that provide beneficial effects on digestion through their activity in the large intestine. FOS are fermented in the colon to product short chain fatty acids, which have important anti-inflammatory effects. FOS help to increase the concentrations of beneficial bacteria such as Bifidobacterium spp and Lactobacillus spp and may decrease concentrations of harmful bacteria such as Clostridium perfringens. Our prebiotics are human food grade and sourced from a highly reputable manufacturer based in Belgium and Germany. In fact, our particular grade of FOS is one of the few that is recommended for use in baby foods.The amount of FOS in our products is based on those amounts that have been shown to be effective in dogs and cats, and published in peer-reviewed journals.

What are the benefits of glycine and glucose?

Glycine has been shown to improve intestinal mucosal morphology and hasten their solution of diarrhoea. Glycine also enhances the update of glucose from the gut.

Glucose enhances sodium and water absorption through a cotransporter mechanism, even in the face of active secretion due to infection. Glucose in the gut also enhances mucosal blood flow.
